Giving

PIC 7.png

The dictionary defines "giving" as the act to present voluntarily and without expecting compensation.  To put into the possession of another for his or her use.

The Bible says in Corinthians 9:6-8

"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

Proverbs 11:24

"One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty."

A Cone Health Research shows that:

Being involved with a charity can boost both mental and physical health.  Research shows that those who volunteer live longer and have happier lives. Charitable giving delivers a host of benefits to the body and brain.  So, whether you give your time or money, you can experience: lower blood pressure, lower stress levels, less anxiety and depression nd increased self-esteem.

Reasons to begin giving:

  • Giving makes us feel happy.  This promotes tranquility and peace.

  • Giving is good for your health.  This promotes longer life and better health.

  • Giving promotes social connection.  When you give to others, your generosity is often continued down the line to someone else, or returned to you.  This strengthens our ties to each other.

  • Giving is contagious.  When one person gives it inspires others to do the same.
